Unlike many men who get married to a Russian I was not looking for a Russian Bride. I was using a dating web site to date women who lived near my home in Shelton, Washington.

During one of my searches I forgot to narrow the search to the right geographical area. My wife's profile popped up and when I saw how beautiful she was I decided to respond to her.

I emailed her several more times after she responded and then asked her if she had a phone. I wanted to see if she really spoke English. She gave me her number and I called her.

I found out she worked for an American company and spoke English very well. We spoke on the phone almost every day.

After six months I flew to Russia to meet her. I made a total of four trips to Russia prior to her coming to the United States.

It took a full year for her paperwork to get approved to come to the US on a fiance visa. This was soon after 911. Now I understand the process is much faster.
