Russian Date Doesn't Speak English
Should
you take a chance?
Should you date a Russian woman that does not speak English? If you asked me that before I met my Russian wife I
would have said, "Are you crazy?"
I would never have considered dating a women who did not speak English. Since meeting numerous friends of my wife I
have changed my opinion. My wife, Svetlana, has spent most of her life working as a professional translator and
interpreter. She has Masters Degree in English.
From the time I stepped from the plane in Moscow she was able to communicate freely with me and help me communicate
with her friends and relatives.
I know other men who have brought their fiancée over to the US knowing just a few words in English and within four
or five months they were able to talk to me with no problem at all. It is truly amazing how quickly they can learn
English.
The other thing that surprises me is how successful their marriages are. These couples have been married over five
years and they are still happily married. By having letters and conversations translated they were able to realize
that they had enough in common to build a relationship. I have noticed that when what you say is going to be
translated you put a lot more thought into what you say.
Sure, it might cost you to have emails translated for a while but it is probably cheaper than paying for a movie
and dinner.
