Russian Bride Wants Rich Husband?

Are you financially secure?

There is a common misconception that all Russian Brides listed on dating websites are looking for someone rich to take care of them financially. This idea is compounded by a difference in use of words in the Russian and American culture.

A common entry in a Russian Dates profile will say she is looking for someone who is financially secure. The problem is that financial secure means something totally different in Russia than it does in America.

In Russian, to be financially secure means to be able to pay your bill at the beginning of the month, buy food during the month and at the end of the month have a few dollars left over.

Americans think to be financially secure you have to have enough investments and cash to be able to survive without a job.

It is simply that Russian Women want to marry someone who can afford to take care of them just like any American woman would.

Believe me. I know lots of Russian Women who married American men who are not wealthy. This includes me. Most Russian women get a job soon after they move to America to help out their husbands with the finances.

Unfortunately, you don't here about the successful marriages in America. People don't run around bragging about how great their marriage is. But, if they have a bad experience and marry the wrong women, who just wants a new life and more money to spend, tell everyone about the bad experience and complain on the Internet.

I know of several American - Russian marriages where the Russian Bride makes more money than the American husband does. This situation can happen very easy because Russians are typically more educated than Americans.

In my particular case my wife got a job after becoming adjusted to America and we have since paid off all credit cards, paid cash for two new cars, and doubled the payments on our new home.

So, if you do see the phrase "financially secure" in a profile. Don't let is scare you off. She just wants you to have a decent job.
